Everyone has a different opinion of what Street Dance is but the street dance I teach is a funky mix of RnB styles, Hip Hop, Break Dance, Poppin ‘n’ Lockin, and is lots of Fun! It is proper street dance as seen in movies Step Up 1 & 2, or on Britians got talent in the form of George Samson, Flawless and Diversity.
Each person is free to learn at their own pace
within classes and additional help is always available.
We work in a fun 'no pressure' atmosphere so
everyone can build up confidence as they learn
All classes start with the basics and can progress to
competitions and formation teams -
but only if you want to!
Initially you will learn the basic steps, timing and
attitude as well as routines and moves/steps which
you can incorporate into your own routines and can
eventually use for competitions.
You do not ever have to compete if you dont want to and can attend classes and workshops for fun. We also invite our non-competitors to dance with us in local events, shows etc so you all have a chance to perform, if you want it ....
If you do want to compete, just work hard in class and make sure Clare know's...Altho it usually takes time, if you are a confident dancer, you can progress on to competitive/advanced classes which will improve your dancing quickly and get you ready. Just speak to Clare about the best way to progress for you ...
- Who are the Class Compeitive Crew?
Class Competitive Crew is the collective name for our Competitors - whether you are in a team or not, you are still part of the crew/family :) We attend UK-wide competitions all year round with SDI where we compete against all the other registered schools to win trophies and titles so we're always on the look out for the future Street Dance Stars :) You can initially enter solos and pairs/duo's events. Clare will obviously help you with these in class but private lessons are also available for competitors (Pls see book) If you work hard, you may also be invited to be in a group or team ...

- Who comes to class?
We have a range of different classes and ages! And yes, there are boys too! Street dance isnt only for girls and when we go to comps there are even separate boy competitions so you dont have to compete against each other
- What if I dont know anyone?
You will get to know everyone really quickly! Everyone in class is there to learn and I will not have anyone in class laughing at anyone or anything! We are a supportive school and all like helping each other so the whole school is the best it can be :) And if you are really worried, you can bring along a friend or just watch for the first week - dont worry! :)
- STREETDANCE INTERNATIONAL (SDI) is a democratic Organisation of professional teachers and dancers who teach street dance. SDI is the recognised governing body of hiphop/streetdance in the UK and have full and exclusive rights to select all dancers from England, Wales & Northern Ireland to represent their countries at all International events and sole and exclusive rights to grant Hiphop Streetdance Championships throughout the UK.
